Entertaiment is a multifaceted form of recreation. It can range from an individual selecting a movie from an infinite number of pre-recorded options; to a banquet adapted for two; to a performance intended for thousands and even for a global audience. Entertainment evolves and adapts to meet the needs of individuals, groups and societies as they grow.

According to Oliver and Barstsch (2011), Entertaiment is an activity understood objectively that encompasses communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience and takes place in a passive form. It is often based on themes that the human brain was evolved to deeply react to, such as social backstabbing or murders.
